I really don’t care whether this woman gets £1 million for presiding over the death of Baby P. What I want to know is what really went wrong and whether this case was the tip of in iceberg.
It seems the government of the day had inadequate people to even get her sacking procedures right. So how about sacking some of them and barring Balls from public office as an incompetent?
Shoesmith should not get a pay off – we should have a judge-led enquiry to tell us what happened and punish the incompetents. Public servants might then get the message.
